Including Your Children

One of the most common questions I get is “Can I include my kids in the ceremony?”.  The answer to that question is yes.  There are numerous ways in which a bride or groom can include their children in the ceremony.  One very common tradition is to perform the sand ceremony as a family.  The entire premiss of the sand ceremony is to show the individual containers of sand coming together to form one unit.  Once all the sand is joined it would be almost impossible to separate once again.  Having your children participate in this part of our ceremony is not only symbolic of the new family unit, but a tender moment that is enjoyed by your family and friends.

Another popular option is to have the officiant perform what is called a Family Promise.  A family promise is a vow that is taken by the new members of the family.  The vow usually includes respecting each other and promising to work together in the new unit that is created.  There are many version of the family promise and we can assist you in finding the right one for your family.

Presenting a gift to the children either after a family promise or the sand ceremony is another common way to include the kids on your special day.  Common gift ideas are bracelets, necklaces, rings, and other long lasting mementos.

Including the kids in the ceremony is a perfect way to show the unity that is to come!
